No credit crunch in Port Moresby for Tempest

March 2009

Originally built in 1987, Credit House is a seven storey commercial building, trapezoidal in shape, with four levels of car park and a mezzanine level.

Tempest Modular Systems have been awarded the contract to upgrade the existing Daikin VRV systems from air cooled to water cooled units. This will involve running a new water circuit throughout the building connected to two new "dry" coolers.

The change from air cooled vrv to water cooled vrv will increase the efficiency of the system and remove the problems experienced with the size, shape and location of the existing plant rooms which inhibits the exchange of heat at certain times of the year ( wet season )

Tempest flat pack success

August 2008

Tempest Modular System’s success in the flat packed modular duct market continues to grow in Australia with the recent contract win in Warnambol for Sam’s Warehouse.

Tempest’s Auckland factory has been busily preparing its flat packed modular units for despatch to Sam’s Warehouse (formerly The Warehouse) in Warnambool, Australia. Flat packing the units for assembly on site results in significant savings in manufacturing (time and cost) using latest technology, reduces transport cost, removes potential damage to the product during transport, and provides much better quality and overall look of the product.

Over the last few years, Tempest in New Zealand has developed a strong relationship with Sam’s Warehouse (formerly The Warehouse) where they are preferred supplier on new installations of their unique modular systems. This contract demonstrates a show of confidence for the recently developed flat packed modular units and is a testament to the reliability and quality of the product.

Tempest on the move

March 2008

Tempest Modular Systems is opening an office in Brisbane to better service the needs of their clients in the growing Australian market while continuing the high quality of service to their NZ clients.

Tempest Modular Systems will continue to be maintained by Climatech in New Zealand, while partnerships with Haden are set to develop as new contracts and projects come on line.

Tempest’s New Zealand Branch is also on the move to Onehunga.

Direct Factory Outlet – Cairns

February 2008

Tempest received an early christmas present when they were awarded the highly valuable design and build contract for the DFO complex in Cairns on christmas eve last year.

An unusually shaped building of approximately 30,000m2, Tempest won the contract on the basis of a redesign. Applying a combination of Tempest’s trademark Krantz technology and design intelligence, the team developed a less expensive and more efficient solution for the customer. The use of Krantz diffuser technology and modular systems reduces the amount of ducting and diffusers required, thus reduces labour costs, material costs and risk.

The team are currently working on documentation and plan to be on site from March until the end of October when the system will be commissioned. Haden's Cairns branch will pick up the warranty and servicing.

Tempest delivering ESD to NZ Post

November 2007

Ecologically sustainable design (ESD) was at the forefront of the design and construction of mechanical services and the related electrical systems to the new NZ Post Mail Sorting Facility at East Tamaki, Auckland.

Working with NZ Post’s ESD protocol, which required commitment to 12 significant ESD related items, Norfolk’s New Zealand based companies Climatech, Tempest and Newpower Electrical successfully completed the project.

Tempest’s role in the project’s construction including collaborating with Climatech and Connell Wagner on the design, installation and commissioing of HVAC systems, including the main processing hall’s modular unit and Krantz diffusers. A number of innovative features were incorporated into the project to ensure optimum energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.

Thanks to the efforts of the Norfolk companies, the team from Tempest, Climatech and Newpower Electrical were able to deliver the project on time, despite the challenges that a processing centre the size of two football fields presents.
