Tempest delivering ESD to NZ Post
November 2007
Ecologically sustainable design (ESD) was at the forefront of the design and construction of mechanical services and the related electrical systems to the new NZ Post Mail Sorting Facility at East Tamaki, Auckland.
Working with NZ Post’s ESD protocol, which required commitment to 12 significant ESD related items, Norfolk’s New Zealand based companies Climatech, Tempest and Newpower Electrical successfully completed the project.
Tempest’s role in the project’s construction including collaborating with Climatech and Connell Wagner on the design, installation and commissioing of HVAC systems, including the main processing hall’s modular unit and Krantz diffusers. A number of innovative features were incorporated into the project to ensure optimum energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.
Thanks to the efforts of the Norfolk companies, the team from Tempest, Climatech and Newpower Electrical were able to deliver the project on time, despite the challenges that a processing centre the size of two football fields presents.
